MAINTENANCE
TUNING & BRAKES
Have you ever heard a high-pitched screeching sound when you applied your brakes?
That's a small metal shim, called an indicator, which is giving you an audible warning that you need to replace your brake pads.
You should be aware of this sound (which is loud enough to be heard while the windows are up, but not necessarily loud enough to be heard over the radio or air conditioner).
If you hear it regularly, quickly make an appointment today and we can help you!
CAR SERVICING
A Few Tips To You:
-
When you see a flashing check engine light, this is a major sign that something is wrong within any of the hundreds of systems that your car's computer monitors. This is an indicator that you should have your engine checked sooner than later.
-
If you have excessive smoke coming from your exhaust this could be an indication that you have an oil leak and you may also notice a burning smell. During the transition to cold winter months, you may notice a little more white smoke at first start. This is a normal reaction of water vapor coming from the exhaust system and should subside once the engine temperature increases.
-
If you notice that your vehicle has any type of smoke coming from under the hood. This could indicate an over-heating problem, which could severely damage your engine if you continue to drive.
TIRE SAFTEY
-
Bulges, gouges or cracks: When a tire deflates, it bulges at the sides. This is a sign of low tire pressure or a slow air leak.
-
Tread wear: The old-school penny test is one way to check your treads: Place a penny into the tread, with Lincoln’s head pointing down. If you can still see the top of his noggin, the tread is dangerously low.
-
Tire pressure: Tires deflate at a rate of about one pound per square inch (PSI) per month. To ensure tire safety keep tires fully inflated.
-
Temperature: Tire pressure drops in extreme cold. The challenge in summer is that excessive heat can buildup in the tire. If you’re heading out on a road trip with an underinflated tire, it will generate more heat and wear out faster.
-
Vibration: Watch out for vibration or thumping when you’re driving. If it feels like it’s coming from under the seats, the rear tires may be out of balance. Vibration from the steering wheel could indicate suspension issues.
